Abilitiy to Copy Recipies Into "New"

For example, we make our own bread, but like to switch up the ingredients from time to time. Re-entering the full recipe is a PITA, so it would be great if I could select the "seed" recipe and copy it into a new one, then rename and tweak the ingredients in the new one, leaving the original alone.

For reference, we primarily use the web interface, not the iOS interface.

More Diary Total Columns & Options

I primarily use the web interface, although I have the app on my dated iPhone 3G. I would like to have more than the 5+1 columns for displaying totals/goal/remaining.

For example, I typically monitor calories, carbs, fat, protein, saturated fat, and sugar. I would also like to see fiber, omega 3s, omega 6s, and a variety of vitamins and minerals.

It would also be great if we could define our own formula-driven parameters based on the other data, like a ratio of saturated to unsaturated fat, or percentage of carbs from sugar.

On the iPhone app side, when looking at the pic chart of the day's calorie breakdown, it would be cool if you could zoom in to the "fats" slice and see the breakdown of saturated/unsaturated. For carbs it could show fiber (soluble and insoluble breakdown would be even better), sugar, and "other". The proteins could be broken down to essential and non-essential amino acids, but I'm not sure if the database is tracking amino acids, so this might be further out.

Anyways, as an engineer I crave flexibility with how my data is presented. I think these changes would be beneficial for people who really want to get into understanding the quality of the foods they eat.

Withings Scale Integration

I'd like to suggest you add integration for the Withings Scale to MFP.

The Withings scale automatically transmits my weight and % BF to their server when I weigh myself. I try to do that daily. When I go to MFP I then have to enter that weight. Would be nice if this happens automatically.

They have a REST API and a means for pushing updates to your app from theres.

They also have an affiliation program that could help support the site.

I've just come over from Daily Burn and that is the only feature they have you don't that I use. It isn't enough to make me go back, but it might influence someone.

So far I'm loving MFP.

Carbs/Dietary Fiber

Just a suggestion, can you add a dietary fiber category in tracking food? Some of us track our carbs and when you eat carbs that contain dietary fiber, they actually offset some of the carbs eaten. For example, Fiber One Pancakes have 37 carbs, but have 5 dietary fiber carbs, so your net carbs are actually 32. Thanks.

It would be awesome if we could post little pictures of our meals next to our food diary. Thats not anything that is real helpful, i suppose, but it would be neat.

Preventing viruses from ads

The best thing you can do to prevent viruses from ads is to run text-only ads. If anything, allow approved .gif or .jpg images such as logos.

It's difficult for MFP to identify every ad that has malware until it's too late and already reported as harming computers so strict rules need to be enforced.

Please don't allow ads that contain flash, javascript or any other script that can hide malware (misleading popups, etc.). They are annoying and distracting anyway. Naturally that is the point to attract users to the ads.

I understand that ads are what keep this site free and running but safety measures need to be maintained to protect the people that use and depend on this site.

Fats

Why does MFP have goals of 0g per day for monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats? They are healthier than saturated fat, which you do have a goal for, so it doesn't make any sense.
I'm not sure which country's RDI's this is based on, but all of them have goals for these fats so MFP should as well.

MFP should implement a photo album into our profile like before and after or as we go through out fitness walk as long as it is modest and no nudity mumbo jumbo crap

branded website and app

You should allow branded copies of MFP by letting companies have "private label" sites that appear to be stand alone. You could contract with gyms and fitness centers so they could each have their own MFP-like site. Maybe two tiers; a free tier that includes advertising and the main forums and a paid tier with no ads and private forums. setting up the branded site could be self service (upload some images, pick some colors, and pick a domain name like mysite.myfitnesspal.com.

nutrition report - select all

Hi, can you add a select all in the nutrition report drop down? Or create a seperate daily total nutrition summary report that includes all nutrition? I would like to see my daily summary of total nutrition. currently i am only able to see the 6 tracking categories I pick or a summary report for one particular nutrition. Thanks!

User Interface suggestion

After entering a food from on the Add Food page, the UI returns the user to the top of the Food Diary page. This is fine for the early meals in the day, but for the later meals the user must then scroll down to return to the meal being entered.

It should be straightforward to auto-scroll the page down so the name of the meal being entered is at the top of the window. (The user can still scroll if they wish to enter food into a different meal.)

[Don't think it makes a difference but I'm using MFP in Chrome v20 on Windows XP.]

Features for those gaining weight

I'm sure those attempting to gain weight on this site are not as numerous as those losing weight, but it would be nice if you could tweak some of your features to work better for us. For example, there will be a recent activity if you lost weight since your last weigh-in, but not if you gained weight. The progress bar in the profile also does not work for those gaining weight. Perhaps these would only occur for those that have set their goal to gain weight so as to not discourage people.

Have you considered adding activities on the exercise page to help with daily caloric burn. This would make it easier to add driving a vehicle, doing household chores, yard work, hobbies, etc. to get a good idea of your caloric output throughout the day.

web app Vs. iphone app

I noticed that there are some features in the iphone app that are not in the web app.

One being that if I view my friends diary, I can click on the tool above her meal and add that same meal to my diary . There seems to be no way to do that in the web app.

Menu planning

It would be nice if MFP had a function where we could put our eating plan into the system, and then have a comparison between the planned and actual foods consumed. I like to plan out what I'm going to eat the next day in the evenings based on what I have on hand. That way I have a menu ready for my busy day and I don't have to waste time thinking about what I'm going to fix for meals while I have 100 other things on my mind.

Messenger/Chatroom

I believe that MFP will become the next up and coming Facebook. The only two things that I feel that this site is missing is a chatroom that will allow many of us to communicate with each other without sending an inbox message and also a messenger that will,allow us to communicate with our pals that are online.
